Changan announces European market entry plans

CHANGAN Automobile, one of the top four largest car manufacturers in China, has announced its plans to enter the European market. With a focus on electric mobility and a clear commitment to innovative technology, clever design and customer satisfaction, CHANGAN plans to win over discerning European customers.  Starting with a fully electric vehicle, the car maker plans to subsequently introduce various power forms such as HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) as well.

CHANGAN plans to introduce its first model in Europe, the all-electric SUV CHANGAN DEEPAL S07, by the fourth quarter of 2024. The car maker aims to enter the markets of Norway, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands in 2024, having already registered its subsidiaries in Germany and the Netherlands as of September. In early 2025, the company plans to further expand its presence in Switzerland, Sweden, and Finland. Additionally, CHANGAN intends to enter the UK market in July 2025, continuing its strategy of operating through subsidiaries. Market entries in Spain and Italy to follow in 2026. This phased expansion aligns with CHANGAN’s goal of establishing a presence in all major European markets by 2028.
The CHANGAN DEEPAL S07 is designed in the company’s Italian design centre, for the needs of the European market, combining practical design with advanced, user-friendly technology to meet consumer demands. In the coming years, the available portfolio will be expanded to additional models from other brands of CHANGAN.

Local expertise and global partnerships for sustainable growth

CHANGAN is leveraging local expertise and global partnerships to support its European expansion. Starting with its initial Design center in Turin, established in 2003, the company has grown its operations with additional locations in the UK and Germany in 2010 and 2021. Today, CHANGAN employs several hundred people across these sites, leveraging advanced automotive technology and insights into European consumer needs for product development. The car manufacturer is now expanding these teams to include sales, import, and logistics operations.
CHANGAN is recruiting and working with local Dealer Partners to establish a Sales & After-sales network to introduce their products and to offer repair and maintenance support to customers. CHANGAN is open to contact from further partners who are interested to work with the brand.
CHANGAN collaborates with global suppliers and research institutes across areas such as powertrain systems, battery technology, software, and safety. These partnerships contribute to the development of CHANGAN’s vehicle lineup and create the best possible driving experience, bringing more joy to everyday mobility.
